Participants should be familiar with the in-house equipment, work area, and typical loads handles in the client’s shop

Objectives:
- To provide indoor crane and hoist operators with an overview of the role, responsibilities, rights and obligations contained in the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- To provide an overview of the policy and programs of the employer that relate to indoor cranes and hoists.
- To instruct operators in the proper care, use and inspection of indoor cranes and associated hardware.
- To demonstrate standard hand signals for guiding a crane or hoist operator
- To have participants rig a typical load and move it safely from one location to another using in-house equipment.
Expected Outcomes:
- All employees will be aware of the approved policies, their basic contents and where to find them for reference.
- Indoor crane and hoist operators will be aware of the need for risk assessment associated with their jobs prior to attempting a lift.
- Indoor crane and hoist operators and signallers will understand basic hand signals.
- All employees will be familiar with the equipment and procedures, and will demonstrate safe techniques in rigging, lifting, moving and placing a typical load.
- Competent operators of indoor cranes and hoists.
