Only where airborne hazards cannot be eliminated or sufficiently reduced with engineering or administrative controls may personal protective equipment be used. There are few situations where respiratory protective equipment alone is the best way to protect workers.
Any person who is required to wear a tight-fitting face piece during their normal day to day work duties, or any person who is required to wear a tight-fitting face piece for emergency response activities should be fit tested to ensure an effective seal.
If respiratory protective equipment is used, employers are required to provide the appropriate equipment, maintain and store it properly, and ensure that it is properly fitted to the individual worker.
If the above applies to your company and your workers, H.E.L.P. Safety Services can help you protect your workers through our certified FIT Testing services.
